Aqua

Aqua is distilled water and being used as a solvent for active ingredients, distilled/deionized water also acts as a spreading agent. So it is an important ingredient and you will see it listed as the first ingredient for virtually every type of cosmetic and personal care products.

 Regular tap water contains minute quantities of substances, such as chlorine, sulphates, and various metal ions that could interfere with a product’s stability and performance. This is why we only use deionized water that is free of toxins, pollutants and microbes in our formulation

• Unlike tap water, this non-harsh water is gentle on skin and free of sulphates and other pollutants that can strip skin of their natural oils.

Rosehip Oil

Rosehip oil comes from the seeds of a specific variety of rose, Rosa aff. rubiginosa or Rosa moschata, which is the fruit left behind after a rose has flowered and dropped its petals. Rosehip oil is harvested from the seeds of rose bushes predominately grown in Chile, and is full of vitamins, antioxidants and essential fatty acids that are known to correct dark spots and hydrate dry, itchy skin, all while reducing scars and fine lines. The Duchess of Cambridge, Gwyneth Paltrow, Victoria Beckham and model Miranda Kerr reportedly all use rosehip oil to keep their skin smooth and blemish-free!

This ingredient is derived from anise, a flowering plant native to the eastern Mediterranean region and Southwest Asia. P-Anisic acid is found naturally in the plant, and has antiseptic or germ-killing properties. You’ll find it in some natural or organic skin care products instead of potentially toxic preservatives like parabens.

Centrimonium Chloride

Cetrimonium chloride, or cetyltrimethylammonium chloride (CTAC), is a topical antiseptic and surfactant. CTAC belongs to a family of molecules known as cationic surfactants, which can be used as emulsifying or conditioning agents.

Propylene Glycol

Propylene glycol is a synthetic organic compound which is a viscous colorless liquid which is nearly odorless but possesses a faintly sweet taste that acts as a humectant in skin care to help active ingredients penetrate deeper into the skin

• Helps ingredients such as 24k Gold, Green Tea Extract, Vitamin C, etc. penetrate deeper into skin to deliver nutrients and cleanse
• The humectant constantly pulls the moisture out of the air and locks it into your skin to hydrate

Acrylates/C10/3 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer

Acrylates/C10-30 alkyl acrylate crosspolymer is a co-polymer of several ingredients. Polymers are usually organic and are formed from large chains of monomers, which are molecules that can bind to each other. C10-30 alkyl acrylate crosspolymer contains both hydrophilic and hydrophobic groups allowing for the polymer to bind to both water and oil, making it useful in combining the two phases to create a single smooth consistency. According to the Cosmetic Database it is also used as a stabilizer, to increase the viscosity of a product and to form a film when applied topically. AACP is commonly found in moisturizers, sunscreen, cleansers and anti-aging skin care in general.

• The thickening agent organically mixes the oil and water portions of the formula and helps maintain it's smooth thicker gel like consistency

SD alcohol 40-2

SD alcohol 40-2 is a simple alcohol that is used as an antiseptic – to give the product anti-bacterial qualities and is derived from sugars, starches, and other carbohydrates. Simple alcohols are usually water-like and functions mainly as a solvent (dissolves something or thins out a mixture), emulsifier (allows two different substances to blend together), antiseptic (kills bacteria), buffer (balances the pH), stabilizer (prevents separation or unwanted reactions), preservative (minimizes bacterial growth or spoilage) and penetration enhancer (improves delivery of an ingredient into skin)

• Typically, SD alcohol 40-2 alone binds to water and lipids in skin, drying it out. However, in combination with other skin care ingredients like the ones in our formulation, it binds to water and lipids in the ingredients instead of your skin. This thins out the formula allowing your skin care products absorb into the skin better!

Imidazolidinyl Urea

Imidazolidinyl urea is an antimicrobial preservative which has been synthetically man-made in the laboratory copying the same chemical formula that the body uses to produce urea after metabolizing protein

•  We use a very low amount of urea in our product, but the portion we do use slows the loss of moisture from a product during use, helping to extend shelf-life. Urea also makes it easier to add certain ingredients to a formula, maintaining pH balance. It also slightly alters the skin's structure, allowing other chemicals to penetrate deeper into the skin, which can increase the effectiveness of the product. Finally, it increases the moisture content in the top layers of skin, so after you use a product with urea in it, you're likely to feel like your skin is soft and supple.
• *Note: that this ingredient is known to be irritating to the skin for some people so make sure to do a product patch test of the product to check for any allergic reactions

Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein

Hydrolyzed wheat proteins are produced by an acid or enzymatic hydrolysis of wheat gluten. It is high in amino acids and comes from a natural origin, making it an ingredient often used in organic cosmetics.

• It helps keep the epidermis layer of skin moisturized and acts as an anti-aging skin-tightening agent, making skin firmer and younger-looking
